Giving

The mission, ministry and maintenance of St Mary the Virgin Church is dependent on the giving of its members. Once we appreciate how much God has given us in practical and spiritual ways, we are compelled to respond to his generosity through the use of our time, our talents and our financial resources. Christian teaching suggests that in all these areas we are expected to give something to God’s work according to our means. Every contribution however small or large brings us together in our shared purpose. We aim to give 5% of our income charitable concerns in this country and abroad. Among others we support Christian Aid, Welcare, Children’s society, St Christopher’s hospice and St. Catherine’s hospice.

Future Needs

Further funds are required to enhance our facilities and to keep our church relevant in the 21st Century. Future needs are toilets in the churches, ability to improve the use and flexibility of the internal space, and maintenance of the heating, lighting, decorating and sound system.

Making a financial contribution

If you have decided to take out or increase a Bank Standing Order, please print off and complete the Charitable Giving Declaration form  which instructs your bank to pay your donation to St Mary’s. If you are a UK Taxpayer eligible for Gift Aid, it also enables us to reclaim tax at 25 pence per pound donated at no extra cost to yourself.

If you have decided to make a cash or cheque/CAF donation please place it on the Collection Plate at the rear of the church, ideally in a Gift Aid envelope, or send it to the Treasurer.

Making a Legacy

We invite you to consider providing for St Michael’s or St. Mary’s in your will. A simple way of arranging it is to add a Codicil to your existing Will.
